Basketball Recap: Excel Christian Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

After flying high against Oakwood Christian last Friday, Excel Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Excel Christian Academy Eagles fell 73-66 to the Coahulla Creek Colts on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Colts are ranked 139th).

Leading Coahulla Creek to victory were Cullen Marti and Gage Voyles. Marti dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards, while Voyles went 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points along with eight assists and seven steals. That's the most boards Marti has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Russell, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

With the loss, Excel Christian Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5. As for Coahulla Creek, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Excel Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 91-63 defeat against The King's Academy on the 20th. As for Coahulla Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-46 victory against Heritage on the 20th.
