Howard junior dominated state's Division II state championship game on both sides of the ball.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2020 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.

Kevin Ignudo of Howard (Wilmington) is the 2020 MaxPreps Delaware High School Football Player of the Year. The 5-foot-8, 165-pound junior was a force on both sides of the ball for the Wildcats, who went 8-0 (with one win via forfeit) and won the Division II state title.

At running back, Ignudo tallied 1,394 yards and 23 touchdowns in just seven games. Defensively, he had over 20 tackles and three interceptions.

Ignudo's two-way impact was on display in the state championship as he ran for 182 yards and three touchdowns on just 13 carries while picking off two passes on the other side of the ball. Howard rolled to a 42-6 win over top-seeded Archmere Academy.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released Jan. 29.
