Softball Recap: St. James Comes Up Short

St. James was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Riverside Academy Rebels, falling 11-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 12-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

St. James saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyric Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. Kennedy Peltier also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

St. James' defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Riverside Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. James will take on Albany at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Riverside Academy, they will face off against Cecilia at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
