Mt. Vernon had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Halfway on Monday. The Mountaineers never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The Mountaineers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 10-0).

Mt. Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Halfway, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5.

Looking ahead, Mt. Vernon will challenge McDonald County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Mountaineers are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. Halfway has already played their next matchup (against Laquey), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
