Recap: Eastlake Falcons vs. Socorro Bulldogs
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Americas, the Eastlake Falcons were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Socorro by a score of 51-41. This was payback for Eastlake, who suffered a 63-57 loss the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Aaron Vargas, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Brandon, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Socorro lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Dominguez. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Kris Fang was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Eastlake's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-12. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Socorro, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
Eastlake will be playing at home against Montwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Montwood and Eastlake are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for Socorro, they will head out on the road to square off against Pebble Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pebble Hills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Socorro in Texas (Pebble Hills is ranked 309th, while Socorro is ranked 801st).
