Baseball Recap: New Plymouth Falls Short of Orofino in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact New Plymouth can now relate to. They fell just short of the Orofino Maniacs by a score of 11-9 on Saturday. The Pilgrims haven't had much luck with the Maniacs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Kaden Hawker was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Hawker was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Ashton Robinson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of New Plymouth's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 6-14 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jacob Hartle, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

New Plymouth now has a losing record of 14-15. As for Orofino, the victory was the 17th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-3.

As of now, neither New Plymouth nor the Maniacs have any future games scheduled.
