Baseball Recap: Hazelwood West Takes a Loss

Hazelwood West came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Duchesne Pioneers, falling 12-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 14-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Hazelwood West saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Douglas, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Hazelwood West has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. The victory was the fourth in a row for Duchesne, bringing their record up to 6-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hazelwood West will face off against Maplewood-Richmond Heights at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Duchesne, they will take on St. Charles West at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
