Baseball Game Preview: Cairo-Durham Mustangs vs. Pine Plains Bombers

The Cairo-Durham Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Pine Plains Bombers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cairo-Durham has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cairo-Durham managed to slip by Hudson the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mustangs lost 18-0 to the Bluehawks on Wednesday. The Mustangs just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Pine Plains' offense. They came up short against Highland on Wednesday, falling 6-0. The Bombers haven't had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Cairo-Durham's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Pine Plains, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cairo-Durham has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pine Plains struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Cairo-Durham might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Pine Plains in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
