Basketball Recap: Bishop Mcguinness Picks Up 14th Straight Win at Home

Bishop McGuinness had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took down the Mountain Heritage Cougars 60-42 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Villains, who have now won six matches in a row.

Adelaide Jernigan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 33 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Bishop McGuinness' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Sullivan, who posted 15 points along with six boards and five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Mountain Heritage lost, don't look at Lilly Neill. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Neill is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Grace Brooks was another key player, scoring ten points and seven boards.

Bishop McGuinness' win was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points over those games. As for Mountain Heritage, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 26-4.

Bishop McGuinness wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-61 loss against Cherokee on the 11th. Mountain Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
