Baseball Game Preview: Salem Lions vs. Mitchell Bluejackets

The Salem Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Mitchell Bluejackets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Salem is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Madison on Saturday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cubs. The Lions' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Mitchell lost 14-4 to Seymour on Monday.

Mitchell saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Martin, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Salem's loss dropped their record down to 7-4-1. As for Mitchell, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-6.

Salem might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Mitchell in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
