Softball Recap: Kiel Takes Down Sturgeon Bay in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Kiel had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Sturgeon Bay Clippers on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Liz Neils was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karris Fisher, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sabrina Boyer, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Kiel hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Kiel has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Sturgeon Bay, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

As of now, neither Kiel nor the Clippers have any future games scheduled.
