Basketball Game Preview: Westlake Charter Explorers vs. Elite Eagles

The Westlake Charter Explorers will challenge the Elite Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Westlake Charter took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Leroy Greene Academy, posting a 67-31 win. The Explorers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Elite came up short against Fortune Early College on Monday and fell 68-56. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Westlake Charter's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.7 points over those games. As for Elite, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-19.

Westlake Charter didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Elite when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 47-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westlake Charter since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
