Baseball Recap: Buhach Colony Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Buhach Colony made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Merced, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Thunder beat the Bears on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 15-7. This was payback for the Thunder, who suffered a 7-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jax Vawter tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Buhach Colony is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-13-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Buhach Colony got a massive performance out of Jacob Medina, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Medina is becoming a predictor of the Thunder's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-12-1 when he doesn't). Gionni Laplante was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Buhach Colony always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Buhach Colony's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13-1. As for Merced, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Buhach Colony will have a chance to go back-to-back against Merced: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
