Football Recap: Gaither Comes Up Short

Gaither fell victim to Wharton and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 13-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wharton Wildcats. The Cowboys were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Yaelis Gonzalez threw for 46 yards on 11 of 21 attempts.

The critical scores for Wharton came from Riley Downs and Ellanee Kight.

Gaither now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Wharton, they moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Gaither will venture away from home to square off against Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wharton, they will host Hillsborough at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wharton's offense hasn't had much luck over their past four contests, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
