Basketball Recap: Swansboro Piles Up the Points Against Richlands

A well-balanced attack led Swansboro over Richlands in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Swansboro Pirates blew the Richlands Wildcats out of the water with a 73-31 final score. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Swansboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jermaine Cunningham led the charge by going 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points and four steals. Cunningham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Tayvion Tangiora was another key player, going 7 for 12 en route to 14 points along with seven boards and three blocks.

Swansboro was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Richlands only posted five assists.

Richlands' loss came despite strong showings from Jo?Nathan Kennon and Joshuia Pierre. Kennon posted 11 points and five rebounds, while Pierre put up six points. Pierre also put up a block, which washis first of the season.

The win (which was Swansboro's third in a row) raised their record to 15-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.7 points. As for Richlands, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swansboro has already played their next match (against Croatan), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Richlands has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against West Carteret.
