Softball Game Preview: Deming Wildcats vs. Santa Teresa Desert Warriors

For the second straight game, Deming will face off against Santa Teresa. The Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Desert Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, Deming beat Santa Teresa 7-2.

Katarina Baca was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Selena Munoz and Jaylin Holguin did most of the damage at the plate: Munoz went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Holguin got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Those two hits gave Munoz a new career-high.

Santa Teresa's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Deming, their record is now 9-14.
