Volleyball Recap: Columbian Comes Up Short

If Columbian was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Clyde on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tornadoes took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calvert Senecas on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Tornadoes in their meetings with the Senecas: they've now lost six in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Columbian lost, don't look at Emma Daugherty. Despite the final result, she had 11 digs and one assist. Daugherty is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

Kate Coleman was the offensive standout of the contest as she had nine digs and four aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in October of 2024. Hope Waire also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Columbian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Calvert, the win keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Columbian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Sandusky on the 23rd.
