Soccer Game Preview: West Central Valley vs. St. Albert

The West Central Valley Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the St. Albert Falcons on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. Albert will be up against a hot West Central Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 11. The Wildcats' defense stepped up to hand West Marshall a 3-0 shutout last Friday. That's two games straight that West Central Valley have won by exactly three goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Albert). Everything went their way against Clarke on Wednesday as they made off with a 10-0 victory. Given St. Albert's advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa soccer rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Clarke are ranked 197th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Central Valley pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those seven matchups. As for St. Albert, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-7.
