Recap: East Gaston Warriors vs. Stuart W. Cramer Storm
After flying high against Shelby last Thursday, East Gaston came back down to earth. The East Gaston Warriors fell just short of the Stuart W. Cramer Storm by a score of 7-5 on Monday. East Gaston has not had much luck with Stuart W. Cramer recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Jordan McCorkle was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with a home run, three runs, and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in the last three games she's played. Lilyan Helms was another key contributor, going 3-for-3 with a stolen base, two RBI, and a double.
On Stuart W. Cramer's side, Hadley Womack made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Womack was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniela Tejada, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
East Gaston's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3. As for Stuart W. Cramer, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Gaston is on the road again on Tuesday to play Highland Tech at 6:00 p.m. East Gaston is facing Highland Tech at the right time seeing as Highland Tech is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Stuart W. Cramer, they will head out on the road to take on Ashbrook at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashbrook hasn't scored more than one runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
