Softball Recap: Harpursville Hornets vs. Delaware Academy Bulldogs
Harpursville extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They came up short against the Delaware Academy Bulldogs, falling 23-8. The Hornets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
As for Delaware Academy, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won three matchups by 15 runs or more so far this season.
For Delaware Academy's part, Peyton Garcia and Leah Dennis did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI, while Dennis went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Garcia a new career-high. Lexi White was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.
