Basketball Recap: Salmen Takes a Loss

Salmen played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 72-51 to the Northshore Panthers. The Spartans have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Salmen lost, don't look at Akayla Mcmooain. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Mcmooain a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendal Thomas, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Salmen's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Northshore, they pushed their record up to 24-6 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Salmen will take on Fontainebleau at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Salmen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for Northshore, they will square off against Chalmette at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northshore knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matches -- so hopefully Chalmette likes a good challenge.
