Addey Abott leads Claremore Christian to victory over Riverfield Country Day

The Claremore Christian Warriors had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They slipped by Riverfield Country Day 32-31. Given Claremore Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Riverfield Country Day is ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Addey Abott, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Gebhardt, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Riverfield Country Day saw an underclassman step up: Stella Thomas dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Lily Clark, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Riverfield Country Day struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Claremore Christian racked up ten assists.

Claremore Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Riverfield Country Day, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Claremore Christian will head out on the road to face off against Regent Prep at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Riverfield Country Day won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Kellyville at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th.
