Recap: Byrd Yellow Jackets vs. Captain Shreve Gators
The Byrd Yellow Jackets suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Monday. They were outmatched by Captain Shreve on the road and fell 59-27. While losing is never fun, Byrd can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 1168th, while Captain Shreve is ranked 53rd).
It was another big night for Ejoshua Mcdonald, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and six steals for Captain Shreve. Mcdonald hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Guinn, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Byrd has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Captain Shreve, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-3.
Byrd will be playing at home against Airline at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Captain Shreve, they will head out on the road to face off against Parkway at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Parkway has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 895 points over their last 13 matches.
