Volleyball Recap: Phoenix Academy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

The Phoenix Academy Firebirds lost 3-0 to the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals on Thursday. The Firebirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-8, 25-11.

Cornerstone Charter can attribute much of their success to Ashley Belland, who had four digs and two aces. Belland has been hot for a while, having also posted 14 or more assists the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Morgan Beaver, who had nine blocks and four assists.

Phoenix Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Cornerstone Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Phoenix Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Jordan-Matthews at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cornerstone Charter, they will venture away from home to challenge Triad Math and Science Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
