Football Recap: Monroe Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for Monroe's offense. They were dealt a 48-0 defeat at the hands of the San Fernando Tigers on Monday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

San Fernando found their leader in sophomore Fatima Palafox, who threw for 357 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 76.7% of her passes. A healthy portion of Palafox's aerial production (90 yards to be exact) went to Chrystal Benavidez, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for San Fernando, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monroe will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Panorama at 2:30 p.m. on September 3. As for San Fernando, they will square off against Verdugo Hills at 2:30 p.m. on the 27th.
