Softball Recap: La Porte Slicers vs. Portage Indians

La Porte won the last time they faced Portage, and things went their way on Wednesday too. The La Porte Slicers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Portage Indians and snuck past 6-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for La Porte.

Marcy Bearickx spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Shayla Sorg was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Madi Squire, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

On Portage's side, Brooklyn Demercede was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Fausch, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with a stolen base and an RBI.
