Softball Game Preview: Sam Rayburn Texans vs. Dobie Longhorns

Sam Rayburn is 0-10 against Dobie since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Texans will welcome the Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. Sam Rayburn has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sam Rayburn fell victim to Dawson and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 16-0 to the Eagles. The Texans' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, while Dobie put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for South Houston. The Longhorns blew past the Trojans 21-0. Considering the Longhorns have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexis Martinez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Leslie Sarduy, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Dobie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .897. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Dobie has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sam Rayburn, their loss dropped their record down to 5-19.
