Basketball Recap: El Rancho Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

El Rancho won the last time they faced San Gabriel, and Adam Rivas did his part to make sure it happened again. The El Rancho Dons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-42 win over the San Gabriel Matadors on Friday thanks in part to Rivas, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played.

Another player making a difference was Troy Barajas, who posted ten points. What's more, he also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023.

The victory (which was El Rancho's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for San Gabriel, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2.

El Rancho won't have much time to rest: their next game is against The Webb Schools at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Webb Schools is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season. San Gabriel will take on Wilson in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
