Basketball Game Preview: Charlotte Catholic Cougars vs. Rocky River Ravens

The Charlotte Catholic Cougars will challenge the Rocky River Ravens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Charlotte Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Rocky River likes a good challenge.

Charlotte Catholic fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Independence on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 72-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (63), the Cougars still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Rocky River sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 victory over Grimsley on Saturday.

Charlotte Catholic better keep an eye on Jayden Ross. He was instrumental in Rocky River's win, putting up 25 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ross has scored at least a third of Rocky River's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronnie Little, who posted 14 points.

Charlotte Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Rocky River, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Charlotte Catholic strolled past Rocky River in their previous meeting on January 3rd by a score of 76-60. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Ross, who went 7 of 16 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Charlotte Catholic still be able to contain Ross? There's only one way to find out.
