Sugar-Salem waltzed into their match on Friday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. They put the hurt on the Homedale Trojans with a sharp 8-1 victory. This was a revenge game for the Diggers: when they faced off against the Trojans back in March, they had to take a 4-3 loss.

Kace Malstrom made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tragen Mattson, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Dawson McInelly was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Sugar-Salem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in ten consecutive contests.

Sugar-Salem's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Homedale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 18-9.
