Softball Recap: Springtown Finds Playoff Glory Versus Southwest

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Springtown walked away with it. They beat the Southwest Raiders on Saturday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Porcupines, who have now won 15 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Kylee Spray made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Fernandez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Reiss DeLaFuente, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Springtown's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Southwest, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

As of now, neither Springtown nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
