Softball Game Preview: Ogemaw Heights Falcons vs. Standish-Sterling Panthers

Ogemaw Heights hasn't had much luck against Standish-Sterling recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Falcons will host the Panthers at 4:00 p.m.

Ogemaw Heights is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Meridian.

Kylee England spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Ogemaw Heights saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Illig, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Avery Weiler was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Standish-Sterling never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Beaverton with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Beavers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Standish-Sterling's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Ogemaw Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Ogemaw Heights took their win against Standish-Sterling in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
