Baseball Game Preview: Lexington Catholic Knights vs. Lexington Christian Eagles

For the second straight game, Lexington Catholic will face off against Lexington Christian. The Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lexington Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Lexington Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lexington Catholic barely beat Lexington Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights' pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Jack Sams tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack White, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brady Wasik, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The win was the third in a row for Lexington Catholic, bringing their record up to 13-7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lexington Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-10.
