Softball Game Preview: East Hickman County Eagles vs. Cheatham County Central Cubs

East Hickman County hasn't had much luck against Cheatham County Central recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Cubs at 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for East Hickman County's offense. They lost 8-0 to Creek Wood on Wednesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Cheatham County Central earned a 12-8 victory over Sycamore on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cubs.

Bailey Rivers looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophia Dolinich, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ava Dyrbala also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Cheatham County Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.

Cheatham County Central's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for East Hickman County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

East Hickman County might still be hurting after the 10-4 defeat they got from Cheatham County Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
