Basketball Recap: Pleasant Grove Vikings vs. Farmington Phoenix
Pleasant Grove extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-3. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Farmington Phoenix. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Phoenix 19-11 in the first quarter.
Pleasant Grove's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brennan Blackett, who shot 60% from the field to rack up 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Milo Johansson, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 16 points and five steals.
As for Farmington, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 67.0 points this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Farmington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Layton, who shot 67% from the field en route to 12 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Bingham, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 15 points.
Pleasant Grove didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-35 win against Mountain View on the 5th. As for Farmington, they have also already played their next matchup, a 58-52 victory against West Field on the 5th.
