West Valley has gone a perfect 5-0 against Monroe Catholic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wolf Pack will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rams. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
West Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: North Pole, who was ranked 20th at the time (West Valley was ranked 19th). The Wolf Pack blew past the Patriots 12-2 on Friday. The Wolf Pack's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Bryson Roon made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam Irish, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Eli Taylor was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
West Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Monroe Catholic made sure to put some runs up on the board against Hutchison on Saturday. The Rams were the clear victors by a 26-9 margin over the Hawks. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.
Monroe Catholic got a massive performance out of Brian Bast, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Bast has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Snow, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
The win made it two in a row for West Valley and bumps their season record up to 2-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Monroe Catholic, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
West Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Monroe Catholic when the teams last played on Tuesday, winning 6-2. Do the Wolf Pack have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
