Umatilla piles up the points against Lake Brantley

Recap: Umatilla Bulldogs vs. Lake Brantley Patriots

The Umatilla Bulldogs had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.8 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Thursday. They breezed by Lake Brantley at home to the tune of 69-39. Umatilla has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 23 points or more this season.

Umatilla found their leader in underclassman Herva Brutus, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 18 rebounds, and ten steals. Brutus is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emalee Duncan, who scored 17 points along with two steals.

Umatilla is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. As for Lake Brantley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Umatilla won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wekiva at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Wekiva focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday. As for Lake Brantley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Winter Springs at 7:00 p.m.
