Marksville is 0-10 against Jena since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Marksville Tigers will face off against the Jena Giants at 5:30 p.m. Marksville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Marksville's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bunkie, sneaking past 2-0. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Katie Lachney made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Jena put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Monterey as Jena made off with a 17-2 win. The matchup marked the Giants' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Sydney Williams was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
Jena kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The win made it two in a row for Marksville and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Jena, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Marksville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .507. However, it's not like Jena struggles in that department as they've averaged .489. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marksville came up short against Jena in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 6-2. Can Marksville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
