It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Soldotna had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the West Valley Wolf Pack with a sharp 38-14 victory. The win was just business as usual for the Stars, who after nine games remain undefeated this season.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Andon Wolverton and Chase Hall. Wolverton rushed for 187 yards and two TDs while picking up 9.4 yards per carry while Hall rushed for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. With that strong performance, Hall is now averaging an impressive 102.3 rushing yards per game.
Soldotna was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 516 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 297 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Soldotna didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Liam Peck, Matthew Innes, Dane Carter, and Zackary Kemp picked up one apiece.
When it comes to explaining why West Valley lost, don't look at Jacob Sherer. Despite the final result, he rushed for 104 yards and one score on only 12 carries.
