Preview: Johnson Jaguars vs. Marshall Rams
Johnson is 1-0 against Marshall since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Johnson Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Marshall Rams at 2:00 p.m. Hopefully Johnson is not getting complacent, as they comes into the match much higher ranked than Marshall in Texas (Johnson is ranked 95th, while Marshall is ranked 710th).
After a string of six wins, Johnson's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 41-27 fall against Reagan.
Johnson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ty Hawkins, who rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown, and Lorenn "bubba" Johnson who rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played.
Marshall fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Madison by a score of 33-20 on Friday.
Marshall's victory bumped their season record to 2-5 while Johnson's loss dropped theirs to 6-1.
Johnson took their win against Marshall in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 41-20. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Marshall's Elisha Katashi, who rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns.
