Volleyball Recap: DeSoto Central Triumphs

DeSoto Central took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Germantown, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Jaguars had just enough and edged out the Mavericks 3-2 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Jaguars have posted since September 28, 2024.

DeSoto Central was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 14-25, 24-26, 25-17, 15-12.

Marlee Mueller had an outrageously good game as she had 22 digs and two aces. Those 22 digs gave her a new career-high. Iyana Fields also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

DeSoto Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Germantown, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

DeSoto Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Center Hill on the 11th. As for Germantown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Northwest Rankin on the 12th.
