Basketball Recap: Tyler Roberson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Christ Covenant over Trinity Christian

Christ Covenant was the 53-44 winner over Trinity Christian when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Christ Covenant Spartans fell 54-43 to the Trinity Christian Tigers on Friday. The game was a 19-19 toss-up at halftime, but the Spartans couldn't quite close it out.

Christ Covenant's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Roberson, who went 7 for 15 en route to 14 points and five boards. That's the most points Roberson has posted since back in November of 2024. Noah Stein was another key player, putting up 18 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Christ Covenant smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Trinity Christian had a senior duo take command as Christian LoPresti dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds and Drew Williams dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Peaden, who posted six points.

Christ Covenant has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Trinity Christian, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-16.

Christ Covenant will square off against Pitt County P at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Christ Covenant is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. As for Trinity Christian, they will challenge Eastern Christian HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Eastern Christian HomeSchool will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Trinity Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
