Softball Recap: Mission College Prep Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Mission College Prep's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cabrillo Conquistadores 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Royals have posted since May 17, 2024.

Dani Rivas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Rivas was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

Rivas wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Malia Okimoto, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

With the victory, Mission College Prep broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-13. As for Cabrillo, their record now sits at 3-11.

Mission College Prep will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Joseph at 5:00 p.m. on the 28th. As for Cabrillo, they will square off against Arroyo Grande at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
