Basketball Recap: University Charter Victorious

While University Charter has struggled at home with three straight losses, that wasn't the case on Thursday thanks to Jaylan Austin. The University Charter Trail Blazers escaped with a win against the Choctaw County Tigers by the margin of a single free throw, 45-44 thanks in part to Austin, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.3 blocks per game.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daylen Blakley, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Omari Phipps, who put up seven points and five rebounds.

University Charter's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Choctaw County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

University Charter is taking a road trip to square off against Keith at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keith is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season. As for Choctaw County, they will welcome Sweet Water at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
