Football Game Preview: Foresthill Wildfires vs. Valley Vikings

The Foresthill Wildfires will head out on the road to take on the Valley Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Foresthill will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Foresthill had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 41-point drubbing they dealt Turlock Christian on Friday. The Wildfires claimed a resounding 47-6 victory over the Eagles. While the Wildfires didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-6), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Vincent Navarro had a dynamite game, rushing for 193 yards and five TDs on only 11 carries. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 7 rushing touchdowns on the season.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Foresthill was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 290 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Foresthill didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Navarro and CJ Nieves. Navarro is also crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 147 every time he's taken the field this season. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Valley, as they earned their first away win of the season. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past San Juan 30-28.

The win got Valley back to even at 2-2. As for Foresthill, their record is now 4-0.
