Baseball Recap: Belpre's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Belpre got themselves on the board against Trimble on Wednesday, but Trimble never followed suit. They came out on top against the Tomcats by a score of 4-0. The win was some much needed relief for the Golden Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Chris Copen was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Belpre is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-3 otherwise. Copen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Copen wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Owens, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those RBI were Owens' first of the season.

Belpre's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Trimble, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Belpre will be playing at home against Federal Hocking at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Trimble, they will head out on the road to face off against Southern at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
