Softball Recap: Morristown Yellow Jackets vs. South Decatur Cougars

Morristown was the 18-5 winner over South Decatur when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Yellow Jackets fell 13-9 to the Cougars on Thursday. Yellow Jackets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Cougars since on Thursday.

Sawyer Rogers was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Rogers was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Nevaeh Cox was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Savanna Colglazier also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Morristown has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for South Decatur, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6.
