Recap: North Greene Huskies vs. Unicoi County Blue Devils

The North Greene Huskies pushed their score all the way to 65 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Unicoi County by a score of 67-65. While losing is never fun, North Greene can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Unicoi County is ranked 84th).

Unicoi County found their leader in underclassman Jackson Simmons, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Simmons' 18th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kolby Jones, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.

North Greene has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Unicoi County, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

North Greene will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chuckey-Doak at 8:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Chuckey-Doak knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully North Greene likes a good challenge. Unicoi County is on the road again on Thursday and play against John Battle at 12:00 p.m. on December 21st.
