Baseball Recap: Franklin Comes Up Short

Franklin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Phillipsburg Stateliners. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 6, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Mason Bonds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Franklin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stanley Madera, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Phillipsburg, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will host The Pingry School at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Phillipsburg, they will welcome Immaculata at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Stateliners' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
