Basketball Recap: Julian Horton Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Jackson

Midtown barely beat Jackson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 79-55 victory on Tuesday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-20.

Midtown got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Julian Horton out in front who went 6-for-13 en route to 15 points and three steals. Horton has become a key player for the Knights: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three steals, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Lawrence Barreau, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Midtown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Midtown's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points over those games. As for Jackson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Midtown has already played their next contest, a 58-47 loss against Pace Academy on the 12th. As for Jackson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-52 victory against Forest Park on the 12th.
